Topic: PC tools Registry Mechanic

Dear all cool,

Having installed the latest RM version, I encounter severe problems scanning my computer. Sony VIAO does not seem to like RM. F.e. ALM is disabled, some of the software does no longer function and all of the tweaks are reset. PC tools does not seem to have a solution. What can or must I do to solve the problem? yikes

This is not uncommon with some registry software. Registry mechanic has never impressed me. I'm amazed you were able to get it to do something! I tested RM on several systems and found NOTHING changed in performance at all! Anyone encountering this issue should take note that by default, MOST applications dealing with the registry will at least prompt a user to back-up the registry files, if it doesn't back them up automatically. If the files were backed up, the fix is simple: Merge the back-up registry values with the main registry again! If not- ouch! Then a user would have to re-install or repair-install all affected applications.

I recommend staying away from software that will "tweak" your system. If you want to use something that claims it will improve your system's performance, then please remember to back-up your important files, back-up your registry values, and make use of system restore points.
