As regards HP downloads, they are a murder, indeed. Try using google appending 'site:hp.com' to your search requests. It helped me the other day.
It helps to know that HP headache isn't just me being a rookie. Thanks for the input, I'll give it a try. I'm grateful HP e-mail support isn't like that!
