Topic: HP printer software problem

I have  lost functionality of some components of my installation cd that came with the printer.  For example, I can't run the services option that displays ink level graphic and cartridge alignment feature.  I am using an HP Deskjet 5420 and the OS is Windows XP SP 4.  When I click on the "services" tab, I get the error message that says, "the application could not be started.  Try re-installing the printer driver."

I have tried multiple times to uninstall and re-install from the set-up CD, but it has not helped with this  problem.  Any ideas about what has happened to the functionality of my software?

Re: HP printer software problem

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Remove all instances of the same.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.
Restart the PC again.
