convert vb6 to vb 2008 express

Hello Anyone

I have a old project that i would like to convert to vb 2008 express. I no longer have the vb6 software but i have all the forms and source code. When i try to convert the project i get an error message "can't use character device names in file names". I have read articles that mention file extentions that can cause the problem. All my VB files
do have extensions. Any solution anyone?
