error 0x4001001300001002

Upon starting my pavillion 33001, i get the message boot mgr missing, then I go through several steps to get to the recovery program, when i strat the recovery program the progress bar just sits there. This will belike this for over 2 hours then the error 0x4001001300001002 comes up.
I called HP support and was disconnected. I called geek squad and they advised to send it to them or have them come to the house. After sitting there contimplating smashing the pc or throwing it my pool, i did some research and it seems I am not alone. Several people posted that they has the same issue and had to send the pc to HP.For the 1200 i spent on this box of wires i am not happy to send it anywhere. We rarely use the pc for anything but the internet and my kids school work. Well after 2 days of frustration school has started today. Can anyone offer a solution to my situation other than sending it out?
I would also appreciate a solution that will not cost me. Seeing as this issue is inherent in the machine and HP knows it, it only seems fari they fix it at no cost.
