Disabling Download Helper seems to remove the problem and re-enabling it brings it back.
As far as I am concerned this means Download Helper is making a direct attack on Software Informer, the add-on can be found here: http://www.downloadhelper.net/ and here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006.
I have removed Download Helper from my PC because of this and I hope this problem gets cleared up.
]]>Here is a list of all the add-ons, themes and information regarding my Firefox install.

I also have Spybot S&D, Teatimer, Comodo firewall and Avira Antivir which all deam Software Informer as safe.
I must say I was very confused when this message started popping up in Firefox.

A bar is comming accross the top of Firefox suggesting that Informer attempts to install spyware on user computers? Any ideas?
