I've attached a screenshot with the message.
Hi Caramelka,
Here is a list of all the add-ons, themes and information regarding my Firefox install.
Application: Firefox 3.6 (20100115144158)
Operating System: WINNT (x86-msvc)
- Adblock Plus 1.1.3
- Chromifox Companion 0.9.9.5
- DownloadHelper 4.7.1
- Extension List Dumper 1.14.8
- Free Download Manager plugin 1.3.4
- InstaClick 1.6
(Disabled)
- Java Console 6.0.17
- Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 0.0.0
- TinEye Reverse Image Search 0.7.1
I also have Spybot S&D, Teatimer, Comodo firewall and Avira Antivir which all deam Software Informer as safe.
I must say I was very confused when this message started popping up in Firefox.
I've decided to post this on Mozilla as well, the post can be found here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/613532?
JR posted the following on Mozilla, "I have this same problem. Do you have the "DownloadHelper" add-on installed? If so, try disabling it. This add-on seems to be the direct cause of it."
Disabling Download Helper seems to remove the problem and re-enabling it brings it back.
As far as I am concerned this means Download Helper is making a direct attack on Software Informer, the add-on can be found here: http://www.downloadhelper.net/ and here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006.
I have removed Download Helper from my PC because of this and I hope this problem gets cleared up.
Thats great, thanks.
