Key features of the Windows 10 Creators Update
As the Windows 10 Creators Update is getting closer to rolling out, so is our curiosity and anticipation. Since Microsoft stated that it's going to be a major update, most of us are expecting to see a lot of useful new things, interesting changes and a better overall experience while using the operating system. In case you're interested in what you have to look forward to this spring, here are some of the key features of the Windows 10 Creators Update.
Three-dimensional creativity
One of the most remarkable things that the Creators Update will bring is a major overhaul for Paint. The application has been around since the first versions of Windows hit the market, but its functionality has been pretty much the same all this time. Now, Microsoft has decided to take things one step further and create Paint 3D, a tool that will help you create and edit 3D content as well as instantly transform 2D images into three-dimensional objects. Those in the Windows Insider program can already play around with a preview version of the application, so if you're interested, all you have to do is to become an Insider.
Virtual and Augmented Reality
In 2017, Microsoft and partners like HP, Lenovo, Dell, ASUS or Acer will start selling a series of VR headsets that will start at $299. This is why the Creators Update also focuses on this aspect, by providing an enhanced "mixed reality" experience, including full VR access to all the Windows apps and services that you're accustomed to as well as the possibility to conveniently discover new applications, games and media content specifically designed for VR and AR headsets.
Gaming and entertainment
The upcoming Creators Update won't ignore the users' need for entertainment either. The update will bring with it a new live game broadcasting feature called Beam that will work on both PCs as well as on Xbox One consoles. Additionally, the users will be able to play games in ultra 4K resolution, enjoy people generated Arena-tournaments and take advantage of the recently confirmed Game Mode.
Better sharing
One of the coolest things to come is the People Bar, which will provide you with an easier way to stay connected and share things with the people that matter to you. Simply put, you will be able to add contacts directly on your taskbar, then easily contact them using an application of your choosing or send files and emojis to them.
Furthermore, there are also quite a few more subtle yet very important changes that the Creators Update will bring:
- full pen support for Word;
- a session manager for Edge;
- volume and screen brightness sliders in the Action Center;
- custom color picker for accents;
- custom themes in the Personalization section of the Windows Store.
