Protect Your Images With Watermarks
When you sharing your photos and pictures on the Internet, you can't be too sure whether they're used properly and are not stolen from you and republished under different authorship. That's why it's a good idea to protect your digital images right from the get-go, and applying a watermark to your images is one of ways to do that.
Watermarking implies embedding some kind of additional data into your image, be it a semi-transparent logo in the corner or a hidden meta tag, to prove the copyright. There is actually quite a wide choice of watermarking tools, but choosing a good one may prove rather challenging. So, if you're facing the same conundrum, here is a list of watermarking software I'd recommend trying.
Watermark Image
This program's name speaks for itself. Watermark Image is comprehensive and quite easy to use. The program boasts a lot more options than most other similar applications: it will allow you to add a text or an image as a watermark and configure it in any way you like, e.g. customize its location, level of transparency, font, or embossing, and do many other things.
Watermark Factory
One more image protection solution. Besides watermarking, it also offers batch photo editing, which is handy. Watermark Factory will enable you to add photo frames to your images, resize them, set the opacity level, and then save the images as JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, or TGA. As for its primary purpose, watermark embedding, the program offers pretty much the same range of options as Watermark Image.
Batch Watermark Creator
Although this utility can only apply text as a watermark, it's benefit is that it allows you to process thousands of images in one go. It can be very handy for Web designers willing to release all their artwork and get at least some kind of protection from it being copied and misused.
Additionally, Batch Watermark Creator provides watermark templates that you can modify in a built-in watermark editor.
Mytoolsoft Watermark Software
Another application offering a quick way to protect your photos. With Mytoolsoft Watermark Software you can use either a text or an image as a watermark for multiple images.
The whole watermarking process is quite easy and wont take much time at all: you just select an image, set the text (or image) for your watermark, pick the target format (BMP, JPEG, GIF, PNG, or TIFF), and click to apply it to the selected files.
Batch Photo Watermark
This is a batch image watermarking tool focusing mainly on text watermarks. The program offers a very wide range of editing options for your textual watermark, but applying an image watermark - while not impossible - is restricted to just specifying the source image. You can't even add any effects to it.
However, there's one thing about this app that you'll probably like: before actually saving the watermarked file, you can preview it and make some changes if needed.
I suppose these are all the software solutions I'd personally choose for watermarking my image files. They all will protect your artwork from unauthorized copying and reproduction to a reasonable extent; and if you have other suggestions, let everyone know in the comments below.
