Best upcoming games in 2018
Maybe a case of the grass is always greener on the other side, but I used to think that console gamers constantly get better titles than PC gamers do. However, 2018 may finally turn things around and even though PS4 owners will get games like Days Gone, Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us 2, those of us who enjoy playing on the PC will see our fair share of truly great games. Here are the best games that have been confirmed to be launched in 2018.

We've already talked a bit about Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a game that should prove to be one of the most interesting single-player open-world RPGs we've seen since Skyrim. The action is based on real events that took place in Bohemia (Czech Republic) in 1403 and the game is all about realism: the game's map is modeled after one from the real world, the combat system is as realistic as it gets and, most importantly, time doesn't stop for the player: the game's story goes on whether you choose to follow it or do something else instead.

If you've always wondered how it's like to be a pirate and sail the open waters in search of treasure, Sea of Thieves might give you a little insight into that. The game is designed to be played in multiplayer, so gather your friends together, form your crew and engage in some epic naval battles, but be warned that each member of your crew is going to need to perform if you don't want to find yourself at the bottom of the ocean. Navigate the helm, fire and reload the canons, repair the ship or board the enemy and engage in hand-to-hand combat.

Another title that I'm very interested in since I first saw it at E3, A Way Out is a two players co-op game created by the same people who made Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. You and the other player are controlling Leo and Vincent, two inmates who are trying to escape from prison. The game is constantly displayed in split-screen mode, each player having its own perspective and moving independently from the other, which allows for some very interesting plans and creative gameplay.

The fifth installment in the Far Cry series will take place in the United States and more precisely, in Hope County, Montana where a cult is terrorizing the locals. Explore a vast open world, use a wide variety of weapons, drive or pilot different vehicles and interact with the wildlife in your quest to liberate the land and kill Father John, the leader of the Project at Eden's Gate. As far as changes go, vehicles can now be bought and customized, the map is no longer filled by climbing towers and there's a co-op campaign.

I haven't played a really good vampire game since Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, so I'm really hoping that Vampyr will change that. In this game, you get to role-play as a newly turned vampire called Dr. Jonathan Reid who's trying to rid London of a dangerous flu strain that's killing the citizens. As far as I understand, you can either embrace your monster side and do things the vampire way or play as the hero, but the decisions you make will shape the way your London will look like.

Every Jurassic Park fan has probably pointed out at least one big mistake that the park organizers from the movie have made. Well, here's your chance to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak and build your own dinosaur attraction park in a business simulation game. Dig in various locations throughout the world to unlock new types of dinosaurs, build research facilities to have all the necessary information, then create the park the way you want to, but above all, make sure that your visitors are safe and don't end up eaten or squashed.

The third installment in the Darksiders series should arrive sometime this year, but the exact date hasn't been made public just yet. You play as Fury, the third Horseman (actually Horsewoman) and you'll use a spiky whip to take on the demonic embodiment of the seven deadly sins. A much bloodier and occult version of Zelda, this open-world action game is supposed to be as challenging as it is entertaining as Fury is a much more magic-based character than its predecessors: War and Death.
As I've said in the beginning, 2018 looks like a great year for PC games and these are just the titles that have been officially confirmed so far. Let's not forget that Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise hasn't made any announcements until now and there are many other companies that haven't made their plans public just yet, so you should expect more great games to come by the end of this year. While you wait, you might want to stay in shape by playing some of the best co-op games in 2017.
